Petite France

This is my first full blog page in quite a while. I'm happy to introduce Petite France to you. It's a beautiful little French-themed village just north-west of Seoul

The village is located in a beautiful area with a amazing view over the riverside. When you first arrive there by bus, you feel like you just traveled to another part of the world in a few minutes. You're suddenly in place that has no Korean structure close by.

The village is used as a cultural village as well as a youth training center. It serves to give a little bit of Europe to Asia and you can experience French Food, clothing and housing culture. Some of the show that you can see there are, Magic shows, Marionette shows, Orgel(Music box) demonstrations,some music concerts in the Amphitheater and some more.

You can also find some gallery exhibitions and there is also a memorial hall for Saint-Exupery, the author of the celebrated French novel, Le Petite Prince (1943). It is also called the "Little Prince" theme park for this reason.

It's located near CheongPyeong and Gapyeong and there are a few ways to get there.
From Dong Seoul Bus Terminal or Sangbong Bus Terminal.
Take an intercity bus to Cheongpyeong (청평).

From Cheongpyeong Terminal, take a local bus bound for Goseong-ri (고성리).
* Bus Schedule: 06:30-20:00, runs 9 times a day

Or, from the Cheongpyeong Terminal, take Gapyeong Tour Bus to Petite France.
* Bus Schedule: 08:30-17:30, runs 7 times a day

The local buses that go there from Cheongpyeong are 31-20 and 31-5. They are sort of frequent, but just make sure when they start and stop running. If you are stuck there, you can always take the tour bus.

The tour bus is quite nice. It costs 5000 won for a return trip on the route.  If you want to take that, I would recommend to do an early day trip from Cheongpyeong to Petite France to Nami Island and Gapyeong. There are quite a few things to see and can keep you a bit busy.

Petit France itself can keep you busy for about 1 to 2 hours, maybe longer, depending on the shows that you see.

The entrance fee for Adults was 8000 won when I last visited. *27 January 2014

Here is a map that you could find on Google maps. Link

Here are my pictures of Petite France. I hope you enjoy this little bit of Europe in Asia. I loved seeing the place, but I really wish I had seen it when it was covered in snow. Maybe I'll return to that area when spring arrives.
