I recently received a book for my Birthday. “Contemporary Capital”, which depicts a lot of contemporary architecture in Pretoria. Some are still being built. Inside it gives beautiful pictures of the buildings, along with a description of the building, the architects as well as the location.
I truly couldn’t believe my eyes and was amazed at all the creations. I usually was of meaning that we don’t have any creative architects in our country. This book definitely opened my eyes to the amazing structures popping up all around the city.
We decided to go and check out some of the buildings from time to time. Yesterday was one of them. Unfortunately most of the places were closed and we could only do a drive past.
We started of to see the National library of South Africa. It was closed and we could only viewed it from outside. It has beautiful features on the outside, but the inside is what lured me.

We went past Audi Hatfield with an amazing metal finish.
We saw the new Gautrain – Hatfield station. It has a massive parking lot and amazing glass terminal.

Then for quick drink we popped in at Brooklyn Design square, with a bit of an European feel to it. -

On our way back home we stopped at the, almost finished, “The club” – development. This is one of my favourite buildings and it has only started.

This trip ended up being a great sight seeing adventure, taking us to the natural history museum and the union building. Do yourself a favour and go check out this book. You will be pleasantly surprised at our architecture.
